Trollbabe "Life & Death" Character Sketches (2004)

Trollbabe is a role-playing game by Ron Edwards, creator of Sorcerer and Elfs, and founder of Adept Press. When Ron contacted me about working on Mongrel, he also asked me if I'd be interested in illustrating a Trollbabe comic for him. I checked out the past comics on his website and decided that it looked like fun, so I said "let's do it!"

The story, entitled Life & Death, ran earlier this summer on the Adept Press site. You can check out my story and others HERE. The entire eight week story is presented here for your viewing pleasure. I've also posted my initial sketches and rough drafts for those of you who enjoy seeing how pieces change from start to finish. My version of the characters and the Trollbabe world is based on the work of Ed Heil, James V. West, and Antti Karjalainen.

I very much enjoyed working on this project even though I spent an obscene amount of time on it, and, of course, wasn't paid in anything but compliments and encouragement. I feel that a few of the panels are particularly good -- specifically Weeks Six and Seven -- and the repetitive nature of the work, I think, helped in my continued growth as an artist and illustrator.
