Welcome to the Ink section. Yes, it's true I don't ink very often, but every once and a while, I do get around to it. Way back in high school I had a brief inking phase which was inspired entirely by illustrations in Space Hulk, a board game published long ago by Games Workshop, and White Dwarf, which always had pages upon pages of super-cool inked artwork. I used this great, rich black ink and this crappy pen that had a tendency to drop enormous blobs of black ink onto otherwise cool illustrations. The most recent two illustrations in this section were done for a game called Prime Time Adventures, and were deceptively challenging. After working on Mongrel and Trollbabe I had become used to the flowing gray tones that black watercolor washes provide, and it was difficult to adjust to the hard lines and sharp contrast of straight ink. For more on PTA, click HERE. Aside from the PTA pieces, I consider Hiding From Doom , The Window Discussion, and Humans of Mihliwar to be the most polished illustrations in this section. |
